In the presence of the Chief of the General Staff of the Army of the Czech Republic, Lieutenant General Karel Rehka, Chairman of the Subcommittee for War Veterans of the Chamber of Deputies Pavel Růžička, war veterans from UNPROFOR and SFOR missions, the Ministry of Defence, the Military Solidarity Fund, representatives of the Police of the Czech Republic, the General Directorate of Customs and the media, Mikov officially presented the Golak knife, inspired by the participation of the Czech Army in the KFOR mission.
"We are glad that in almost 5 years of its existence, the War Veteran Project, which aims to support war veterans of our army, has shown its viability and usefulness," said Martin David, the company's sales director. "Thanks to the Military Solidarity Fund, we have been able to contribute more than 400,000 crowns in that time, and to show the public the heroism of our soldiers."
The War Veteran project is based on the publication of numbered editions of military knives inspired by the various foreign missions of the Czech Army. Mikov will donate CZK 300 from each piece sold to the Military Solidarity Fund. The Golak knife thus complements the already released Storm, Repetitor and the limited edition M. 1917 trench knife dedicated to the memory of the hero of the anti-Nazi resistance, General Bílý
The Golak knife is a combat integral dagger with a double-edged blade. As with the other knives of the project, its author is an army instructor in close combat, Major Roman Hippík. The dagger, made of N690 steel and with G10 bolsters, is delivered in a kydex sheath, and each customer will receive a booklet describing the history of the KFOR mission and the inspirational sources for its production. The booklet was prepared by the Military History Institute.
Mikov plans to continue publishing numbered editions of Project War Veteran knives. The next knife should be dedicated to the mission in Afghanistan.
