UTON, a symbol of understanding and tolerance

Our cooperation with the Czech Red Cross started several years ago and it was actually thanks to Rybička. The Red Cross chose them as small gifts for the Gold Cross of the Czech Red Cross 1st Class, which is awarded for 160 donations, and the Gift of Blood - Gift of Life plaque, which is awarded for 250 donations. The plaques are presented at a national ceremony. We approached a young art school student who designed an interesting thematic print for the plaque. And during our joint preparations with the Czech Red Cross staff, we found that we had quite a lot in common.

As knife makers, we bring to the world tools that are useful and often life-saving helpers in a crisis. Intervening in such situations is also the job of the Red Cross. Of course, its staff and volunteers work more with nursing supplies, but they cannot do without knives. And then there is one more thing that unites us, and that is the effort to systematically create meaningful long-term projects that help people. So it became clear very early on that we would not just stick to the common Fish for deserving blood donors.

These days we are starting the next stage of our cooperation together. We are launching
a limited numbered edition of 100 UTON knives with red handles. From each sold knife equipped with a certificate, 1000 CZK will go to strengthen the crisis preparedness of the Czech Red Cross. The launch of this limited edition has been several months in the making and now the help of the Czech Red Cross is more important than ever.

While there are a number of limited edition UTON knives for various anniversaries, Mikov has only officially released one so far - in 2018 it was 100 pieces of the green-handled knife for the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic. The limited edition for the 105th anniversary of the Czech Red Cross with red handle is thus only the second such official edition.

The knife bears the Latin motto Inter arma caritas - Mercy among weapons - the motto of the International Red Cross. And so the UTON military knife, although originally designed for combat, can also be a symbol of understanding and mutual tolerance. For it always depends on who holds it and for what purpose.

So if you become one of its owners, you will not only help the Czech Red Cross, but we believe that you will also subscribe to the slogan on its blade.
